The Lost Songs of Nick Garrie-Hamilton is now released on Revola records and
available at major HMV stores and online.
Here,s what Kevin Orton ,original Amazon reviewer for Stanislas has to say
"those early demos are gorgeous and I luv some of the later stuff especially Love
in my eyes, All of the Time ,Wild Hair and When the cold winds blow....what,s
amazing is that despite all the ups and downs Nick managed to hold on to the
qualities that made Stanislas so special and yet still grew.. the same dreamlike
qualities and poetic sense ".
The Bigtakeover described Nick's acoustic performance in New York last
June as
"fantastic" and conceeded that the songs came out stronger that way.
Les Inrockuptibles in Paris said the same as did the folk in Lisbon.
"We like Nick Garrie's debut album.....Nick Drake on
prozac." www.popjunkie.tv
"One of the rarest pop-psychedelic albums of the late 1960s"
www.billboard.com
"One of the most mysterious and sought after albums
ever...for those of you who yearn to hear a few of these cuts with just an
acoustic guitar, the bonus tracks will make you appreciate Nick Garrie's
craft all the more. A must for fans of Nick Drake, Scott Walker." www.amazon.com
"Garrie's story is shrouded in mystery, which is apt,
as his songs are similarly strange and cloaked in an orchestrated soft-pop
surrealism." www.tangents.co.uk
"An engaging album of acoustic folk-pop along the
David Mcwilliams or Duncan Browne lines...a fine tribute to a never sung
talent." Mojo Magazine
For all those who wanted to own a vinyl copy of Stanislas,
Nick has signed a deal with WahWah records in Spain and the album should
be out in the next couple of months. Thanks to the internet, Nick's fan
base has grown literally across the world and he is currently hoping to
get to venues in New York, Los Angeles and Spain.
Nick
was born in Yorkshire to a Russian father and Scottish mother , raised
in Paris. His early years at boarding school and university were spent
as Nick Garrie but by the time he signed his second recording deal with
Francis Lai the latter insisted he change his name and he took his mother's
maiden name Hamilton.

It was in Portugal three years ago playing with other guitarists
that Nick finally found his niche and a public hungry for his nostalgic
brand of music. As Leonard Cohen released '14 new songs' Nick revisited
his old songs and recorded 'Twelve old Songs' in a little
Portuguese studio in Villafranca. This was how Nick had always wanted
them to be heard.

"What
you get are delicate, seductive, pop vignettes....melancholic, singer-songwriter
wistfulness with lashings of strings. A quiet, understated and under-heard
treasure trove" Sweet Floral Albion
"Garrie's
lone 1969 album returns like a long lost uncle clutching armfuls of
oranges and lemons."
"Garrie's voice is equal parts Al Stewart and Peter Sarsted-- his
compositions gently melodic but slightly off kilter and the production
ornate but crunchy. A languid orchestral post psychedelic treat."
Shindig
"That's a nice song I wish I'd written it myself"
Leonard Cohen (to Nick on his Spanish tour)
